HONG KONG

Rita Ku, a former partner at Withers, has left to set up her own firm in Hong Kong. Rita Ku & Solicitors (RKS) specialises in family law.(ALB, Jan 27)

K&L Gates has hired Susan Munro as a counsel in the firm’s international arbitration practice from Steptoe & Johnson, where she was a partner.(ALB, Jan 27)

Sharon Ser, a senior regional partner at Withers specialising in divorce and family law, has announced that she will join recently launched Hong Kong boutique firm Rita Ku & Solicitors (RKS).(ALB, Feb 8)

Offshore firm Mourant has added disputes and insolvency lawyer Michael Popkin as a partner to its litigation team in Hong Kong from rival Campbells, where he was a counsel.(ALB, Feb 10)

London-headquartered Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) has hired Jonathan Silver, an expert in assets and structured finance, as a partner in its Hong Kong office from offshore law firm Maples Group.(ALB, Feb 10)

SINGAPORE

Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has welcomed back project finance specialist Rupert Baker as a partner in Singapore from Japanese conglomerate SoftBank Group, where he was a senior counsel and head of the project finance and energy group.(ALB, Feb 10)

Arbitration-focused UK firm Three Crowns has opened an office in Singapore after hiring disputes expert Daryl Chew as a partner from Shearman & Sterling, where he led the Singapore office.(ALB, Feb 17)

U.S. firm McDermott Will & Emery (MWE) has added Clarinda Tjia-Dharmadi as the chair of its Asia transactions practice to its recently opened Singapore office. She joins from Latham & Watkins, where she spent more than two decades.(ALB, Feb 17)
