Hong Kong

An ex Shearman associate, Wanda Woo comes back to the firm from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where she was a capital markets partner, Shearman said in a statement.(ALB, Mar 1)

Tarala joins Baker McKenzie weeks after the firm hired former Sidley Austin lawyer Joy Lam as a partner in Hong Kong. He is also Bakers’ first hire to its capital markets practice in Hong Kong since the addition of Victoria Lloyd from Ropes & Gray in July last year.(ALB, Mar 3)

Brian Ho, a former executive director of Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), will join Kirkland & Ellis in August as a partner in its transactional practice.(ALB, Mar 3)

Capital markets specialist Howie Farn has joined Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as a partner in Hong Kong from Kirkland & Ellis.(ALB, Mar 10)

Kirkland & Ellis has hired private equity and M&A lawyer Peng Yu as a partner in its Hong Kong office from Ropes & Gray.(ALB, Mar 15)

Hong Kong firm Anthony Siu & Co, PRC firm Jia Yuan Law Offices’ association firm in the city, has hired Bonita Chan, an expert in commercial litigation and arbitration, as a partner from Ince. (ALB, Mar 17)

 

Singapore

Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has added capital markets specialist Xavier Amadei as a partner in Singapore from Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow. (ALB, Feb 24)

Singapore boutique PDLegal has hired disputes expert Cathryn Neo as a partner in the firm’s international arbitration and China practices from Ashurst ADTLaw, where she was a senior associate.(ALB, Feb 24)

Offshore firm Carey Olsen has hired Tom Katsaros as a consultant in Singapore from rival Maples Group, where he was the head of the firm’s funds and investment management team in the city-state.(ALB, Mar 3)
